Off-Hire Bunker Survey in Monrovia – Strengthening Vals Marine’s Presence in Africa

Vals Marine Survey Company recently completed an Off-Hire Bunker Survey in Monrovia, Liberia, representing the interests of the Charterers.
During the attendance, our surveyors carried out detailed bunker measurements and reconciled the physically determined quantities with the vessel’s available records and logbook figures.
Following the measurement and verification process, the total bunker quantity was determined to be approximately 13.828 MT in excess of the quantity recorded in the vessel’s logbook.
For an Off-Hire Bunker Survey, accurate determination of onboard fuel quantities is particularly important, as bunker figures at the relevant contractual point can have a direct commercial impact on the parties involved. Reliable measurements, proper documentation and an independent technical assessment therefore remain essential.

Growing Bunker Survey Operations in Africa
This Monrovia attendance is another example of Vals Marine’s continued development of its bunker survey operations across Africa.

Our team continues to undertake bunker quantity verifications and related marine surveying assignments in strategically important ports throughout the region. By maintaining experienced personnel in the field and applying consistent survey procedures, Vals Marine is strengthening its ability to provide reliable and responsive surveying services to international Charterers, Owners and maritime stakeholders.

Our objective is not simply to attend a vessel and record figures. We focus on measurement accuracy, documentary reconciliation, technical assessment and clear reporting, allowing our clients to make decisions based on properly established evidence.

Continuous Field Engagement
As part of Vals Marine’s commitment to maintaining consistent survey standards, Baturalp Alkan recently visited our personnel working in the region.
Direct engagement with our field surveyors allows Vals Marine to maintain close communication with its operational teams, review local working practices and reinforce the company’s technical approach to bunker surveying and marine inspections.
This continuous interaction between management, senior technical personnel and local survey teams is an important part of Vals Marine’s strategy for building a strong and reliable international surveying network.
From Monrovia and other African ports to international maritime hubs, Vals Marine continues to expand its operational capabilities while maintaining a clear focus on independent, accurate and technically supported marine surveying.
